Staged at The Mawson Centre at Mawson Lakes, the events include interactive student activities, sustainability tours, an environmental expo, guest speakers and a quiz night.
Mawson Lakes Project Director Vince Rigter said the activities were designed to blend science with fun.
“Apart from turning the spotlight on science and the solutions it offers, the activities also address some of our key challenges, including environmental sustainability,” he said.
“The highlight of the program will be the Science at the Lakes, which is a day specifically for students in Years 4 to 10 and provides an interactive insight into science and technology activities. As part of the day, we are hosting sustainability tours around Mawson Lakes to provide students with insight into sustainable development.
“Sustainability is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. From its early development in 1992, Mawson Lakes has been at the forefront of environmental care and has pioneered a host of innovations and initiatives which have won international acclaim and empowered the community to make a difference.”
